Saab JAS 39 Gripen || Always Combat-Ready || The Swedish aerospace and military corporation Saab AB produces the light single-engine multirole fighter aircraft known as the Saab JAS 39 Gripen. The Gripen incorporates fly-by-wire flying controls, a delta wing and canard arrangement, and a relaxed stability design. Modern aircraft can fully operate with other NATO aircraft. By the year 2020, all Gripens models A through F will have been made in excess of 271. To replace the Saab 35 Draken and 37 Viggen in the Swedish Air Force, the Swedish government started research studies for aircraft capable of fighter, attack, and reconnaissance roles in 1979.

The JAS 39 was created based on a fresh Saab design. The maiden flight took place in 1988, and the first serial production plane was delivered in 1993.
