Russia has deployed warplanes armed with state-of-the-art hypersonic missiles to the country's Kaliningrad region on the coast of the Baltic sea. The heavily militarized region of Kaliningrad does not share a land border with Russia but is wedged between Lithuania and Poland, both of whom are part of the European Union and NATO.
