The debate over whether to provide Ukraine with advanced combat aircraft is growing among Western leaders, with Australia being urged to provide its retired F/A-18 Hornet fighter bombers to Ukraine. Two of Australia's military theorists, Dr Ross Babbage and Dr Peter Dean, support handing over the planes under certain circumstances. Ukraine has also formally requested Finland to provide them with F/A-18 "Hornet" fighter jets, and the proposal is being considered by Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin. While Finland is still deliberating whether or not to donate Hornets to Ukraine, Finnish Defense Minister Antti Kaikkonen has stated his reluctance to give up any Hornets. Despite this, President Volodymyr Zelensky has requested more jets, including F-16 "Fighting Falcons" from the United States, which has yet to be provided.
