Turkey is reportedly less interested in acquiring more batches of Russian-made S-400 air defence system amid the Ukraine war. A high-profile Turkish defence industry official recently said that Ankara might not need Russian S-400 batteries in order to protect itself.
The Turkish industry official added that Ankara is giving precedence to locally produced tech over Russian systems. Experts say that the Turkish manufacturer’s boast may sound premature, but is actually grounded in reality.
Analysts say that Turkey has made significant progress in its domestic air defence industry, which is giving Ankara confidence to say no to Russian systems.
