The Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor, is an aerial domination fighter manufactured in the United States, by Lockheed Martin. It was the first fifth-generation fighter to enter service. Its main mission is to maintain air superiority on the battlefield, but it also has secondary ground attack capability.

The high cost of the aircraft development program ($66.7 billion dollars), delays in the development of the Russian and Chinese fifth-generation fighter program, the export ban and the development of the more versatile F-35 ended up coming to an end. the F-22 production schedule. Today the American Air Force has 187 of these aircraft in active service, the last F-22 being delivered in 2012.
