Taiwan air force conducts military drills after incursion by mainland Chinese warplanes

Taiwan’s air force flexed its military prowess in a drill simulating a war scenario on January 26, 2021. The exercise came after dozens of mainland Chinese warplanes flew into the self-ruled island’s air defence zone over the weekend. In the drill held at the Tainan airbase, flight crews from the First Tactical Fighter Wing deployed Indigenous Defence Fighters. The jets are armed with US-made Sidewinders and domestically-developed Wan Chien air-to-ground cruise missiles.
