To warbird enthusiasts, it’s the worst April Fools joke ever…
Initial reports of the partial landing gear collapse appeared to be minor. However further inspection of the damage that occurred while the famed B29 bomber known as Fifi was being moved from its temporary hangar appears to be much worse.
Fifi is one of only two remaining flying WW2 B-29 bombers, loved by warbird enthusiasts around the world.
Parts for these planes are no longer manufactured and replacements do not exist, resulting in the indefinite grounding of this iconic aircraft until a solution can be found.
