My name is Edward John Smith, Commander of the British Royal Navy, Commodore of the White Start Line, and Captain of the RMS Titanic. The Titanic was under my command on her maiden voyage across the Atlantic Ocean, and it would serve as my retirement voyage, a victory lap for a long and decorated career. This should have been an easy, simple trip, with no serious challenges.
