Slovakia is the second Nato country set to send fighter jets to Ukraine, following Poland, which announced on Friday it would be giving four MiG-29s to Kyiv.

Along with its donation of 13 jets, Slovakia will also supply two of its Kub air defence systems, the country's Prime Minister Eduard Heger said.

Developed by the Soviet Union in the 1960s, the 2K12 Kub surface-to-air missile system will look to assist in safeguarding the Ukrainian civilian population and infrastructure from Russia's bombings and attacks.
